Established in 1946, this garage is one of Houston’s oldest, originally built by Adolf and Lillie using hand-poured cement blocks and pine from their land. Their son Eugene and his wife Virginia expanded it in 1985, adding service bays and a dynamometer. Later, Sybren and Kathryn van der Pol modernized the space and strengthened its community roots. With a lifelong passion for the automotive industry, George Hamilton brings a wealth of hands-on experience and leadership to our team. Born in Brooklyn, NY, and raised in Baltimore, George's journey began early—right after high school—when he took a job at a local ExxonMobil gas station shop. It was there he discovered his calling and set his sights on turning automotive repair into a career.
George furthered his expertise by attending UTI, focusing on auto, diesel, and industrial technologies, while also completing specialized Mercedes-Benz training during his time there. After graduation, he sharpened his skills working directly with Mercedes, gaining valuable dealership experience.
But George's drive didn’t stop in the shop. He transitioned into education, spending six years as a dedicated instructor at UTI, sharing his knowledge and shaping the next generation of technicians. Eventually, his entrepreneurial spirit led him to run his own shop, giving him a deep appreciation for both the technical and business sides of the industry.
Now, as a General Manager at Clutch Automotive, George combines his technical expertise, teaching background, and leadership skills to create an exceptional customer experience and foster a strong team culture. His journey is proof that a love for the trade, combined with dedication and versatility, can lead to a truly impactful career.
